The Montega EC 42 was designed in the 1990s by the famous Lebanese jewelry designer Elie Chatila, president of the Swiss – Geneva based – Montega Jewelry and Watches company.
The watch was produced in a numbered limited edition.
The red dial has silver Roman numerals and accents and silver hands with a white central seconds hand. The watch has an inside concave shape sapphire crystal, creating the illusion of a dome even if the outside facet of the crystal is flat.
The tank style case is ca. 26.5 mm (not including the crown) x ca. 42 mm (including the lugs), sized for a very elegant dress style watch for men or women.
The case-back is marked MONTEGA GENEVE | REG. DESIGN | EC42 | AUTOMATIC | 034 | SWISS MADE.
The movement is based on an ETA 2000-1 automatic caliber, frequency 28800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), 20 jewels, regulator system ETACHRON, power reserve ca. 45 hours.
The red strap is hand-crafted in alligator skin on leather.
The watch is not worn, it comes from a private collection and it has no original box or papers.
The watch is working and keeping a pretty precise time, but as for any other used or vintage watch, a basic revision is recommended.
Most of the watches that I am selling are liquidation or collector items, therefor I make no claims and give no warranty regarding continual accuracy of time keeping. Used, antique or vintage watches may need servicing, even if they are in good running condition. Unless otherwise stated they may need to be cleaned, oiled, adjusted and or timed. I cannot guarantee a used watch to be waterproof or water resistant.
