WYLER – 1934 Italia Campione del Mondo – Swiss Made Men Wristwatch
900 CHF
Wyler was founded in 1896 in Switzerland by Paul Wyler, and it became a very important name in the watchmaking industry later in 1927 when they invented Incaflex, a new and revolutionary type of balance wheel, resistant and robust, with elastic arms to absorb shocks and protect the movement.
Five years later – in 1932 – they invented the first sealed watch case, perfectly resistant to water, opening the way for the development of sport watches for the global watch market.
In the 1930s the brand is acquired by the Italian distributor Binda, owner of the Vetta brand, and since at that time it was not possible to sell products with foreign trademarks in Italy, in 1933 the Wyler Vetta trademark was registered where Wyler is the surname of the creators of the Swiss brand and Vetta is the Italian brand owned by Innocente Binda.
Wyler Vetta becomes the official sponsor of the Italian National Soccer League – the 1934 world champions. During the World Cups of 1934 and 1938, coach Vittorio Pozzo and all of the soccer players, including great names as Meazza, Monzeglio or Combi, wear their Wyler Vetta watches during the matches as well, proving their extreme resistance.
The 1994 limited edition (999 pieces only) Wyler – 1934 Italia Campione del Mondo is a steel chronograph with a classical sought-after design, reminiscent of the watches of the era. This very rare timepiece has a dark blue dial with silver-plated counters. The dial is showing date by hand at 3:00, 24 hours counter or second time zone at 6:00, small seconds chronograph counter at 9:00 and 30 minutes (or soccer game half-time 45 minutes) chronograph counter at 12:00. The watch has a tachymeter scale on the dial ring and a telemeter scale on the case bezel.
The case has a diameter of ca. 37 mm (without crown or pushers). The case-back is engraved Wyler | 1934 | Italia Campione del Mondo | No 644 | 60mo Anniversario della prima vittoria
The watch is worn but in a very good overall condition, with faint scratches or blemishes. The original stainless steel bracelet will fit a small wrist only. No extra links available.
The revision history is unknown, and there are no original box or papers available for this watch.
The watch is working and keeping a pretty accurate time.
Most of the watches that I am selling are liquidation or collector items, therefor I make no claims and give no warranty regarding continual accuracy of time keeping. Used, antique or vintage watches may need servicing, even if they are in good running condition. Unless otherwise stated they may need to be cleaned, oiled, adjusted and or timed. I cannot guarantee a used watch to be waterproof or water resistant.
