The Calibre 1887 is TAG Heuer’s first movement built entirely in-house, based on the design of the Seiko 6s37 chronograph movement. TAG Heuer acquired the rights to the European production of the 6s37 from Seiko Instruments and then began the process of re-engineering and putting together the resources and skills to produce this high-precision watch movement.

The Calibre 1887 prototype was called Calibre 18 but it never went into production under that name. In this kit, the movement is attached to a rare Carrera Calibre 18 (1887) dial – also a prototype, and it has the full set of corresponding watch hands. There’s a small area between 1:00 and 2:00 (marked on the last 2 photos) where there are some barely visible blemishes on the dial, probably the dial was bent and the marks are a result of a fix attempt.
