Often (wrongly) called a deployment clasp, the deployant or folding clasp was invented by Louis Cartier in 1910. The name comes from the French word déployer, which means to unfold, extend, or unfurl. The deployant clasp system extends the life of straps because once it is fitted to the correct length, the strap doesn’t need to be fiddled around with every time the watch is put on or taken off. One advantage of a deployant clasp is that it makes much harder to drop the watch (even when unbuckled, the watch remains as a loop around the wrist).

Titanium is considered to be one of the strongest metals. Its strength, together with the high resistance to heat, water and salt, and its light weight, make it the ideal material for deployant clasps, buckles or even watch parts.

This CYRUS Geneve titanium deployant clasp will only fit straps with 22 mm at the buckle end – please measure the actual size of your strap before ordering the clasp.
