Often (wrongly) called a deployment clasp, the deployant or folding clasp was invented by Louis Cartier in 1910. The name comes from the French word déployer, which means to unfold, extend, or unfurl. The deployant clasp system extends the life of straps because once it is fitted to the correct length, the strap doesn’t need to be fiddled around with every time the watch is put on or taken off. One advantage of a deployant clasp is that it makes much harder to drop the watch (even when unbuckled, the watch remains as a loop around the wrist).

Founded in 1874 and based in Geneva, Clerc is endowed with a rich and inventive heritage to which unique creations continue to bear witness, these include one-of-kind models crafted for royalty, heads of state and artists, in keeping with this longstanding tradition handed down from one generation to the next, Gérald Clerc cultivates the family passion for exceptional horology.

This CLERC deployant clasp will only fit straps with 22 mm at the buckle end – please measure the actual size of your strap before ordering the clasp.

This article is an original Clerc product, new, never worn, with faint marks from handling or storage (if any).
